Ampere
"Hailing from Amherst, Massachusetts. Ampere is known for their short but very intense music. This four-piece features members from the now defunct bands Orchid and Wolves. Ampere also puts great importance into DIY. The song "In Memorian" refers to Guy Debord, founder of the Situationist International, which can be seen as the predecessor of the DIY movement." - Sputnick Music
They say Noise annoys, well the noise kept me happy. Brought over and promoted by a man called 'Grant' on a Tuesday night it was rad to have something to do but the wallet was feeling a little pinched early in the week see, The Venue; The Brownnote in Wellington, on first Ornithologist well actually it was man called Grayson Gilmour who was really noisy but boring and like I said I like Noise!! so, this was a two peice guitar trio featuring the drummer and keyboardist of another Wellington act Akaname, who blew me away with thier P.A. and made me like metal, na more like brilliance with intros of creepy looped voices and birdsong inbetween the storytelling which never stopped but ebbed and flowed like any good punk band should, wearing mask's to hide the fact that thier songs didn't have an ending, only slight breaks making one large song that painted a whole picture. Featured on the latest real groove compilation, through the backdoor I believe and they are top blokes all round, living in the same building as this event was held but alas members seem to be making the flight to the land of Oz, flying the coop as they say.
Strangers were on next, the stage, the floor in front of us at this fine upper ware house. The recent tour that they have been doing of Australia has made them heaviar and more focussed, they sing alot about things like stairs and things you see that you will read about in 'Camus' books, I'm not really into Hardcore vocals over Crust music(a mix of metal/punk) but I'm sure the singer was staring at me! yes little 'ol me, it weirds me out but like I would say, it doesn't matter *smiles, My friend says they sounded like
The Germs but he thinks everything sounds like The Germs, so there ya go.
Ampere came on and immediately got cat calls, yea!!! loved the drummer hitting the cymbals like he was moulding them, also a band that pisses people off and all they have to do is play really fast, really loud and really short songs, great! non pretentious thrash with sum melody thrown in and they came all the way here to do it, ahhh, no I won't quote ad's this time, I've had a D.I.Y. makeover like, way ta inspire guys and gals, ala punk rock.
