I hear that bro! I'm a bit tired of paying crippling power bills to stay warm. I need to hibernate like a big ol' bear till this shit passes.

Wouldn't mind a wind generator, but there doesn't seem to be hardly any wind here (which is good, apart from wanting a wind generator  )! Will get solar water heating done sometime though... house faces north with nothing to block out the sun! 8)

There's not much wind here in Taumarunui either - unless it's the morning after too much Guinness and baked beans with fried onions on toast!! Taumarunui is in a valley, so it's rare there is anything blowing beyond a light wind. It's great - and way better than the freezing gales that seemed to blow in the UK Winter.

Let me know how you get on with that Solar Water heating though... I took to coiling a hose onto of the wood shed roof during summer and filling it with water. I only had to leave it for an hour or two and there was plenty enough hot water to wash up with.

Yeah, it's fuckin' great to live somewhere with fuck all wind... like in Dunedin there's always a cold wind blowing up the harbour and making the place freezing! I don't miss that at all!

The basic system was about $6,000! The Government gives you a $1000 back, so about $5,000! Then there's fitting... price depends on whether you need/want new hot water cylinder, how far away the system is to be installed from the cylinder (piping etc) etc etc etc!

So I suppose anywhere from around $6,000 - $10,000!

It's good to have a large cylinder, cos then it keeps water hotter longer etc (it takes longer for a large amount of water to cool down than a small amount)! It's all computer controlled too...

Don't you have hot water in your house Steve? The hose is basically the same idea...

Haha - yeah - I have hot water Mike, it's just heating the water up via the hose outside saves a bit of power with the hot water tank AND I can do the washing up by the BBQ outside without having to go in and trawl all the dishes etc with - unless I want another cold beverage!!

And Phleg.... how you coping now it's July??
