Well, I suppose Uni students are the future "normals"... you know, lawyers, doctors, rock stars and shit...

Yeah, move to the country! Fuck, people around here are so friendly and happy...

Unlike in the cities...

Rush rush rush... in 4X4, run someone of the road... need more coffee to get through my 12 hour day... rush rush rush a bit more... arrgghhh, all my cellphones are ringing, the boss is on each one of them... rush rush rush a bit more again... need more coffee, the last bucket load has stopped working... stress, stress stress and more stress... no time for the kids... no time for anything but work...

Ha ha, they can fuckin' have it!

And they will when it comes to paying off their student loans! Ha ha, reality bites...

An on and on the madness goes...

Yep, but not many are paying off their student loans. At least two of my friends who still have loan money owing have put down house deposits. I regret paying mine off when I see that happen.

You're bloody lucky that you've managed to pay your loan off! Your friends may be stalling their loan repayments for now, but the Government don't forget, they'll come collecting one day! And Governments change... currently there's no interest being charged, but I wouldn't bet on that lasting forever! Now's the best time to make a dent in them, before they do start charging interest again... and God knows what else to get their money! There's already being talk about not letting people with loans leave the country etc! All we need is some shitty mean as Governments like what we had during the late 80's and 90's for the shit to hit the fan!

I mean, at the end of the day, a student loan is a debt! And not only that, but it's the worst kind of debt... a debt to the Government!

I know a guy who has a student loan for the same amount that I paid for my house sitting on 3/4 of an acre! I know what one I'd rather have...

Me personally, I think student loans (along with bottled water) is the biggest scam ever...

Here's a bit from the lyrics section on my new CD...

A good example of what happened back then was our Post Office. Under Jonathan Hunt, as Minister in the late 1980’s, it was firstly split into 3 separate sections – the telephone network, Post Office Savings Bank and postal services. These became State Owned Enterprises required to produce a profit for the government. This first stage was referred to as commercialization. Once they were profitable they were then sold outright to private investors and became Telecom, Postbank and New Zealand Post respectively. This second stage is called privatization.

This means that instead of the profits from these services going back to the community they now go into the back pockets of private investors. In the case of Telecom for example it was sold by the government for just over $4 billion and over the succeeding 15 years it has returned close to $15 billion in profits to its private shareholders. Were this community asset to be still in community hands it alone would be able to pay for fully government funded tertiary education. No student debt - what a novel idea! Alas not. The original investors sold Telecom for $12 billion making a capital gain of some $8 billion or 200% over 10 years. All this money - more than $20 billion - went from the pockets of New Zealanders and into the pockets of wealthy private individuals - mostly foreign in Telecom’s case.

These are staggering figures and represent the reason private investors are always pressuring governments to sell community assets so they can cream handsome profits for shareholders.

So I suppose you could say that anyone with a student loan is just pouring money into rich Telecom (and etc) shareholders pockets! Because they're getting all the money that should be paying for education!

Its smellington so i have no issue with who you work for but you said you feel a little irked when you've paid off you're loan and others don't, who cares on an individual basis if the system itself is at fault in the first place

and punks a lifestyle seemingly , if it ain't then its probabaly either outta ta bury it or just a fat fucking fake! and nobody goes in for 'shoddy' product except those who are shoddy themselves ie: Students aha

No, I don't mind that they haven't paid it off. Look it this way though. A friend bought a house for 80,000 several years back and now it's worth 210,000. Somehow I think he's incapable of paying off his loan but as I'm getting older, my real envy is the house ownership.
