"Punk" is different for everyone and there's no rule book but I kinda get what you're on about... it is just a costume for some people who miss the point (meateaters in Antisect shirt yadda yadda).

Is it not easier to state what is NOT Punk?? The whole 'definition' of Punk kinda depends on era too - I mean stuff like THE FLYS and THE BOYS would be viewed as some kinda power-pop band today....

Anyway, what I do know is some bland pop band sharing a stage with Bruce Springsteen (and fawning over him at that!!!) at Glastonbury does not fit into my idea of what Punk is.

I think "punk" sort of meant something in the late seventies/early 80's! But these days... nah! It's just a genre term for just about anything...
